Amphibious Force U.S. 7th Fleet is using the air field as a command post and staging area to deliver supplies to earthquake victims in Padang and surrounding village, and is coordinating U.S. military assistance to victims of the recent earthquakes in West Sumatra, at the request of the Indonesian government.
