Service members with the Single Marine & Sailor Program helped remove garbage and debris in the ocean and on land with 808 Cleanup, August 8, 2015. Service members collected 136 pounds of marine debris that was comprised of things such as fishing line, metal, plastic and glass from the waters surrounding the pier and on the beach. The nonprofit organization’s mission is to empower communities in restoring their natural environments through beach cleanups, graffiti removal, hiking trail and marine debris cleanups. Participating in event such as this, give service members the opportunity to give back to the local community. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Brittney Vito/Released)
