Retired Marine Lt. Col. Oliver L. North, now a military historian, television host with Fox News and San Antonio native, holds his hand over his heart as he says the Pledge of Allegiance during a reception at The Officers’ Club aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Aug. 8, 2015. Hosted by the Honolulu Navy League, the reception was held as a fundraiser for the Friends of Windward Wounded Warriors. Donations raised for the organization go toward trips, crisis response and readiness, as well as post-traumatic stress and transition support groups for the Wounded Warrior Battalion West-Detachment Hawaii aboard MCB Hawaii. The fundraiser helped to accomplish the mission of the Friends of Windward Wounded Warriors, which is to improve the quality of life for recovering service members stationed aboard MCB Hawaii by providing assistance and local resources, easing the transitions they face physically, mentally, spiritually and professionally.
