ARTA BEACH, Djibouti (July 24, 2015) U.S. Marine Cpl. Arvic Morales, right, shows Lance Cpl. Ricardo Mendoza the inner workings of an M1A1 Abrams tank. Morales is a tank gunner with Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. Mendoza is a mortar man with BLT 3/1, 15th MEU. Elements of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit are ashore in Djibouti for sustainment training to maintain and enhance the skills they developed during their pre-deployment training period. The 15th MEU is currently deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operation.
