An F-15 Eagle taxis to the runway at Robins Air Force Base to take off for a functional test flight piloted by a member of the 339th Flight Test Squadron. The squadron’s mission is to certify aircraft are worthy to return to service. During functional test flights, aircraft are put through extensive testing and engine run-up to try and find any performance problems. Once an aircraft passes flight checks and a test flight, it is sent to be painted and then back to the unit to which it belongs. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tommie Horton)
