Tech. Sgt. Brandon Fitzpatrick, F-15 Functional Test Flight Squadron, rigs flight controls on an F-15 Eagle in preparation of a functional test flight. Fall protection gear is a requirement for performing such repairs atop the aircraft. The Air Force standard for fall protection applies to maintenance activities both on the flight line and in hangars. It requires fall protection to be used wherever there is a potential for a worker to fall 4 feet or more to the next lower level or, regardless of height, onto unguarded machinery or dangerous equipment.
