Sgt. Albert Caldwell, an Erie, Pa., resident, is deployed to Camp Adder, Iraq, with Company A, 628th Aviation Support Battalion in support of the 28th Combat Aviation Brigade's deployment to Iraq. His home unit is Detachment 1, Company A, 128th Brigade Support Battalion, based in Kane, Pa. Caldwell is a motor transport operator, and in addition to assisting in truck missions with the battalion, he has also been a big part of the force protection team as a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle driver. He conducted daily patrols along the perimeter of camp to assist in the protection of the Soldiers and civilian workers at Adder. Security matters are not foreign to Caldwell. He is currently a corrections officer working for the State Correctional Institution of Albion, and he also attended the Police Academy. Caldwell has a degree in criminal justice from Edinboro University, and while he was a student there he played on the school's football team. His athleticism does not end there, as he was also the Pennsylvania State Kickboxing Champion in 1991. Caldwell spent eight years in the Marine Reserves and has now been a part of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard for three years. While home on his two-week leave, Caldwell got married and when he returns home he plans on taking a honeymoon trip to Mexico with his wife. His plans also include spending time with his children and beginning a new family with his wife. He would also like to take some much-deserved time off to relax before heading back to work.
