Staff Sgt. Kevin Propes of Jacksonville, Ala., surveys the surrounding land during a site assessment mission at a range, Sept. 24, outside of Forward Operating Base Hammer, Iraq, located outside eastern Baghdad. During the mission, paratroopers assigned to the 82nd Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Multi-National Division – Baghdad, escorted and provided security for Brig. Gen. Paul Wentz, the commanding general of 13th Sustainment Brigade (Expeditionary), who was conducting an assessment of the area. Propes serves as the non-commissioned officer in charge of the battalion's command security team.
