Michigan National Guard Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry Regiment assigned to units in Detroit, Saginaw, Wyoming and Big Rapids practice a UH-60 Black Hawk medical evacuation with 3-238th General Support Aviation Battalion crew during a nuclear detonation response exercise in Grand Rapids, Mich., June 26, 2015. The exercise is called Northern Exposure and is designed to integrate Michigan National Guard members and civilian first responders and rehearse life sustaining capabilities during natural or man-made catastrophic events. For many on the infantrymen, the exercise was the first time participating with role players who tested the Soldiers' capabilities of handling unruly U.S., citizens rather than civilians or enemies in an overseas deployed environment.
