Capt. Steven Bortle, a member of the U.S. Army National Guard from Pearl City, Hawaii, is off in his heat of the 800-meter run at the 2015 Department of Defense Warrior Games, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va., June 23. Bortle, who won the heat for Team Army, is also training for the Honolulu Triathlon and aims to complete an Ironman competition. The DOD Warrior Games run through June 28 and are an adaptive sports competition for wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans. Approximately 250 athletes, representing teams from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Special Operations Command and the British Armed Forces will compete in archery, cycling, shooting, sitting volleyball, swimming, track & field and wheelchair basketball.
