British Maj. Gen. David Cullen, assistant chief of the General Staff, thanks the United States and Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter for having them compete in the 2015 Department of Defense Warrior Games against the American wounded, ill and injured warriors during the Opening Ceremony in front of the National Museum of the Marine Corps on June 19, 2015, Marine Corps Base Quantico. The other VIPs sitting on stage are: U. S. Navy Adm. James “Sandy” Winnefeld, ninth vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Joseph Dunford, commandant of the Marine Corps, and Air Force Maj. Gen. Howard Standahl, chaplain. The 2015 DOD Warrior Games are held from June 19-28. The games are an adaptive sports competition for wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans. Approximately 250 athletes, representing teams from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Special Operations Command and the British Armed Forces will compete in archery, cycling, shooting, sitting, volleyball, swimming, track & field and wheelchair basketball.
