Spc. Brad Machado, center with helmet, a crew chief and flight medic with Stockton's 3rd Battalion, 140th Aviation Battalion, Security and Support, with the California Army National Guard, explains what the litter carriers must do to prepare a patient for extraction onto a UH-60 Black Hawk. Field medics from Headquarters, 1st Squadron, 18th Cavalry, based out of Azusa, and the flight crews are learning from each other during their annual training, June 6-20, 2015, while Soldiers assigned to D Company, 40th Brigade Support Battalion, help and role play as litter patient and carrier. The training, being held at Fort Hunter Liggett, was designed to familiarize everyone on how to call in a medevac and rush injured troops to awaiting medical treatment facility.
