Multiple U.S. Army soldiers in ACU (Army Combat Uniform) camouflage are loading a casualty on a litter/stretcher into a military helicopter. The scene appears to be a MEDEVAC (medical evacuation) operation or training exercise conducted in a grassy, wooded area. Several personnel are wearing flight helmets, indicating helicopter crew members are assisting ground troops with the casualty transfer.

Soldiers of Virginia Army National Guard unload a simulated casualty from a HH-60M MEDEVAC Black Hawk helicopter June 16, 2015, at Fort Drum, NY. The medical evacuation was preceded by a combined arms exercise led by soldiers of Lynchburg-based 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. The combined arms exercise was the keystone event of the 116th IBCT’s Multi-echelon Integrated Brigade Training, run by First Army Division East, a division responsible for training Reserve and National Guard troops ahead of their ready year. Aviation soldiers of Fort Drum-based Company C, 3rd Battalion, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade provided air support for the MEDEVAC exercise. (National Guard photo by Sgt. JoAnna Greene/Released)
