Chief Petty Officer Earl Johnson, assigned to Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, participates in a push-up challenge with Chicago Alderman James Balcer, who served in the Marine Corps during Vietnam. Balcer, who asked the chief selects to refer to him as private first class, is instrumental in organizing Chicago's annual Memorial Day Parade. Nearly 300 chief selects and their sponsors visited key Chicago landmarks, marched the Magnificent Mile singing Navy cadence and visited with veterans at the Jesse Brown VA Hospital.
