A silhouetted soldier is photographed against a sunset or sunrise sky, appearing to handle a belt of ammunition atop a military vehicle. The backlit composition creates a dramatic silhouette effect, obscuring fine details but clearly showing military equipment and gear. A rifle, likely an AK-pattern weapon, is visible mounted or resting on the vehicle to the left.

Staff Sgt. Christopher Hall, the platoon sergeant for Light Armored Reconnaissance Platoon, Battalion Landing Team, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, and a Phoenix native, loads an M240B machine gun in preparation for military operations in urban terrain training at Udairi Range, Kuwait, Aug. 27. Both Marine Central Command and Third Army/U.S. Army Central Command work together to prepare service members for deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. The Third Army/USARCENT facilities at Udairi Range are among the best locations for final desert training and weapons qualifications prior to arrival to their deployment sites. The 22nd MEU is ashore in Kuwait conducting sustainment training while serving as the theater reserve force for U.S. Central Command.
