Capt. Drew Clark, commander, Alpha Company, 2-198th Combined Arms Battalion, Q-West force protection company, holds an irrigation hose that snakes from a 4-inch pipe suspected of tapping illegally into the 16-inch pipeline feeding water to Q-West. During a recent reconnaissance mission of the 16-inch pipeline in the Ninawa province of northern Iraq, elements from the force protection company discovered this harvested wheat field but could not verify the water source because the 4-inch irrigation pipe was buried.
