An AH-64D Apache attack helicopter from Company B, 1st Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Multi-National Division-Baghdad, fires self-protection flares while conducting combat operations near Camp Taji, Iraq. Although the majority of U.S. forces are out of the cities, aviators from 1-227th still play a vital role in security for their comrades on the ground.
