German soldiers examine a B-17 Flying Fortress during World War II, in Holland, 1943. During the war, two American B-17 Flying Fortresses, two British Halifax Bombers, one American P-51 Mustang and one American P-47 Thunderbolt crashed in the municipality of Giessenlanden as a result of air combat over Holland.
