Petty Officer 2nd Class Shantal Zavala greets a San Antonio police officer patrolling the streets near the Alamo on her way to join fellow military ambassadors for Fiesta Fiesta, the official kickoff event for the annual celebration Fiesta San Antonio, a 10-day long series of events honoring the defenders who fought in "Battle of the Alamo" and the "Battle of San Jacinto” in 1836, both important events that shaped the history of Texas and this country. Zavala, from Playas de Rosarito, Mexico, is a urology service lead/instructor at the Navy Medicine Training Support Center at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston and one of 10 Joint Base San Antonio military ambassadors representing each of the services.
