SAN DIEGO (May 18, 2015) - Vice Adm. Thomas S. Rowden, commander of Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, and Capt. Leonard Reed, commanding officer of the amphibious transport dock ship USS Somerset (LPD 25), transit the flight deck in route to the ship's quarterdeck during a tour visit. Somerset is undergoing a five-month post-shakedown availability (PSA) period. The ninth San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship, Somerset is named in honor of the crew and passengers of United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed near Shanksville, Pa., in Somerset County during the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
