SAN DIEGO (May 13, 2015) - Army Lt. Gen. Robert Abrams, senior military adviser to the secretary of defense, and Capt. Leonard Reed, commanding officer of the amphibious transport dock ship USS Somerset (LPD 25), discuss ship’s capabilities from the pilot house during a distinguished visitors tour. Somerset is currently undergoing a post-shakedown availability (PSA) period. The ninth San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship, Somerset is named in honor of the crew and passengers of United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed near Shanksville, Pa., in Somerset County during the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
