A harbor scene showing two small patrol or workboats deploying what appears to be an oil containment boom or anti-swimmer barrier across the water. In the background, a large bulk carrier vessel is docked at a terminal equipped with two large gantry/portal cranes. The image appears to be a film photograph, likely from the 1980s or 1990s based on image quality.

MANAMA, Bahrain - Two offshore skimmers tow a boom (floating barrier) across the water during an oil spill and recovery proof of concept demonstration, April 29. The proof of concept focused on the ability of U.S. Navy and host nation assets to respond quickly and collect and recover offshore oil spills. USNS Catawba (T-ATF 168) and USS McCampbell (DDG 85), along with Bahraini Coast Guard emergency management personnel, participated in the exercise.
