Philippine Marine Staff Sgt. Dennis Hernandez, an explosive ordnance disposal technician assigned to Motor Transportation and Maintenance Battalion, Service Support Brigade, examines a detonation trigger at Crow Valley, Philippines, April 23, during Exercise Balikatan 2015. Philippine and U.S. Marines demonstrated the equipment they each use for their jobs. Balikatan, which means “shoulder-to-shoulder” in Filipino, in an annual bilateral training exercise between U.S. and Philippine forces improving security cooperation activities, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief capabilities, and crisis response throughout the region.
