Marquez Way, 17, son of 1st Sgt. Billy Way, first sergeant of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, logs onto his email at home while his dad looks on. Marquez earned a chance to attend a six-day summer program at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston. The Harker Heights High School junior had to complete some rigorous online forum discussions, essays, math problems and projects over about five months in addition to his regular homework, extracurricular activities and community service responsibilities.
