Kline of the Caisson Platoon, 1st Battalion, 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), forges a horseshoe at the Caisson Stables on the Fort Myer portion of Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, April 9. Part of the care of the platoon’s steeds includes the repair and forging of new shoes. The horses require routine care on their shoes and new shoes every six weeks or as needed.
