Lt. Col. Christopher D. Payant, center, commander of the 39th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, passes the unit colors to Command Sgt. Maj. Vincent Silva, the senior noncommissioned officer of the 39th BEB, during an activation ceremony for the aforementioned battalion April 16, 2015, at Freedom Fighters Physical Fitness Center here. The passing of the guidon from the commander to the senior enlisted Soldier of the unit is an Army tradition.
