Command Sgt. Maj. Charlie Sanders (center-left), the senior noncommissioned officer assigned to 1st Battalion, 252nd Armor Regiment, presents a traditional military coin to Sgt. Jonah Sharpe during a training event April 11, 2015, at Fort Pickett, Va. Sharpe, a member of the battalion’s A Company, was recognized for an act of selfless leadership while attending a recent military course when he placed a junior Soldier’s personal development ahead of his own. The battalion is scheduled to deploy this summer, along with the North Carolina National Guard’s 30th Armored Brigade Combat Team headquarters, in support of the NATO peacekeeping mission in Kosovo.
