Marines with 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment load themselves and their gear onto a HMH-461 aircraft, April 13, 2015, on the flight deck of the USS Kearsarge. The aircraft transported the Marines from the ship to Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C. More than 200 Marines from 1/6 traveled to Norfolk, Va., to board the USS Kearsarge, April 9-13, 2015, in support of Joint Operations Access Exercise (JOAX) 15.1. Marines simulated being part of a Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) element deployed to conduct ship-to-shore assault on Onslow Beach, Camp Lejeune.
