Latvian soldiers wait to initiate the Anti-Personnel Obstacle Breaching System (APOBS) on the final day of Exercise Summer Shield at Adazi Military Base, March 31, 2015. Latvian soldiers detonated the APOBS and cleared a path to allow U.S. Marine combat engineers with Black Sea Rotational Force to emplace the Bangalore torpedo explosives. The Latvian and U.S. Marines 81mm mortars sections laid suppression down-range prior to the engineers’ breach. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by 1st Lt. Sarah E. Burns)
