Airmen of the 86th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron review procedures for loading medical equipment and personnel into a KC-135 Stratotanker at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, March 26, 2015. Aircrew and a KC-135 from Royal Air Force Mildenhall, England, spent multiple days at Ramstein performing aerial refueling missions, which also gave AES Airmen the opportunity to train on their mission inside a different airframe. In addition to setting up medical equipment and treating “patients,” the AES Airmen also familiarized themselves with the KC-135. This included learning where all emergency exits and equipment is located on board in case something goes wrong, and they must evacuate themselves and their patients from the aircraft.
