Edna Barnes, 80, joined more than 200 active duty, reserve, veteran and civilian women who took part in an all-female retreat ceremony at the 60th Air Mobility Wing's headquarters at Travis Air Force Base, Calif., March 19, 2015. Barnes, who is the Solano County director of veterans services, served in the Air Force from 1953-55 as a meteorologist, one of the few career fields open to female airmen at the time. The retreat ceremony, which marks the end of the military duty day, was part of the second annual National Women's History Project.
