Pfc. Alexander Van Der Ham, a native of Garden Grove, Calif., now a medic with 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, assesses a casualty June 19 during a simulated training exercise lane at the Joint Readiness Training Center, Fort Polk, La. Van Der Ham assisted the Iraqi police as a part of pre-deployment training with 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division.
