Soldiers of the 105th Engineer Battalion complete chainsaw, sandbag, road construction and vehicle recovery training at a North Carolina Department of Public Safety campus in Durham, N.C., March 9, 2015. The North Carolina Department of Transportation shared their expertise in the best and safest techniques for towing abandoned or damaged cars in case of natural or man-made disaster with the Guard engineers. “We want to ensure folks do not get stranded and get them off the roads and home safe,” said Ben Griffin, left, a NCDOT incident management engineer. The training also prepares Soldiers for Operation Vigilant Guard, an exercise testing National Guard response to domestic emergencies.
