Gen. Frank J. Grass, chief, National Guard Bureau, Maj. Gen. Robert E. Livingston, Jr., adjutant general for South Carolina, and nearly 40 other dignitaries toured Choppee Regional Resource Center in Georgetown, S.C., and other training locations for Vigilant Guard 15, March 9, 2015. The dignitaries toured the complex where a wide range of training exercises were being conducted and visited with National Guard Soldiers from South Carolina and Georgia as well as local and state emergency responders. Grass, Livingston and the other VIPs observed Soldiers and emergency responders reacting to a collapsed building, assisting casualties and conducting decontamination procedures before moving on to several other sites. Vigilant Guard is a series of federally funded disaster-response drills conducted by National Guard units working with federal, state and local emergency management agencies and first responders.
