The 1st Marine Division staff finishes a hill during a motivational hike aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., March 6, 2015. "At any given time, a Marine or sailor will be able to go and knock out a 10-mile hike," said Maj. Gen. Lawrence D. Nicholson, the commanding general of the 1st Marine Division. The hike was led by Nicholson and Sgt. Maj. David L. Jobe, the division sergeant major. The ability to maintain a high level of fitness is the responsibility of every Marine, explained Nicholson.
