SOUTH CHINA SEA (Feb. 26, 2015) Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class James Rutherford, left, from Galveston, Texas, a search and rescue (SAR) swimmer for LCS Crew 103, performs an underwater approach on Gunner’s Mate 1st Class Thomas Culbertson, from Media, Pa., a SAR swimmer for Surface Warfare Mission Package, Detachment 1, currently embarked aboard the littoral combat ship USS Fort Worth (LCS 3), during a SAR swimmer exercise. Currently on a 16-month rotational deployment in support of the Asia-Pacific Rebalance, Fort Worth is a fast and agile warship tailor-made to patrol the region’s littorals and work hull-to-hull with partner navies, providing 7th Fleet with the flexible capabilities it needs now and in the future.
