Brigadier General Steven R. Rudder, commanding general, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, plants a tree in front of a 7.8-by-20-meter multipurpose, masonry building, during its dedication ceremony in Kang Hang Maew district, Chantaburi province, Kingdom of Thailand, Feb. 17. The structure was built by U.S. Sailors with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 4, along with members of the Royal Thai Marine Corps and Indian Army, as part of the Humanitarian Civic Action portion of Exercise Cobra Gold 2015. It will be used as a library, and community center for the local district. The ceremony marked the end of the construction and the official hand over of the building to the community. CG15 is a combined-forces exercise, taking place across Thailand from Feb. 9-20, designed to advance regional security and ensure effective responses to crises in the area. It includes a specific focus on humanitarian civic action, community engagement and medical activities to support the needs and humanitarian interests of civilian populations around the region.
