U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Arjune Haynes, 633rd Medical Operations Squadron cardiology noncommissioned officer in charge, reflects on his life at Langley Air Force Base, Va., Jan. 30, 2015. Born and raised in Chorrillo, Panama, Haynes said he experienced the effects of Operation Just Cause, the U.S. invasion of Panama, at the age of 10. Amidst the chaos, a U.S. Army Soldier approached the frightened boy, offered him a Baby Ruth candy bar and reassured him everything would be just fine. In that moment, Haynes realized he wanted to do for people what the Soldier did for him and the only way of accomplishing his goal would be to join the Air Force.
