U.S. Naval Academy Midshipman 1st Class Michael Lemonick chooses the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Donald Cook (DDG 75) for his first assignment during Ship Selection Night in Mahan Hall. Ship Selection is the culmination of the service assignment process for Naval Academy midshipmen assigned to serve as Navy Surface Warfare Officers. Upon reporting to their first ship after graduation and commissioning, they will be in charge of any number of shipboard operations and activities while at sea.
