"The Battle of the Bulge was fought in the Belgian Ardennes in quite extreme weather conditions. The brave soldiers fought to free Belgium and to let democracy win. Today we honor these vets. All of them are getting older, most of them have reached 90 and we should continue to remember what they did and the values they fought for." Eighteen World War II veterans were honored, Jan. 27, 2015, during a wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. The Battle of the Bulge was fought from Dec. 16, 1944 to Jan. 25, 1945. It was the largest and bloodiest battle fought by the United States in Would War II and took place in the frozen forests of the Ardennes. Inscription reads, “To World War II American Soldiers who fought in the Battle of the Bulge-The greatest Land Battle in the history of the United States Army."
