Spc. Daniel Montgomery of Loveland, Colo., fires his M240 medium machine gun at Fort Hood, Texas, April 25. Montgomery, who serves in Battery A, 3rd Battalion, 157th Field Artillery, Colorado Army National Guard, volunteered for the deployment because he "wanted the experience, and I wanted to serve our country," he said. The battalion is scheduled to deploy overseas in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom this summer.
