Corporal Kelly M. Kilpatrick, a crew chief with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 265, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, sends rounds down range during a gun shoot April 16 at a live-fire range on an uninhabited island 25 nautical miles west of Okinawa. Crew Chiefs not only maintain and take care of their aircraft, they are also trained in aerial gunnery to provide protection for the aircraft and cover fire when dropping off or picking up cargo or troops in a combat zone.
