A group of student singers and dancers practice prior to their performance for the Mapajoni Primary School Dedication ceremony, May 14. The Mapajoni Primary School project was funded by Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa and included the rehabilitation of seven existing classrooms, completion of a partially constructed classroom and repair of the teacher's office and living quarters. The primary school will support 554 students from five villages as far as 6 kilometers away. The service members of CJTF-HOA, headquartered in Djibouti, employ an indirect approach to counter violent extremism. Through a strategy of cooperative conflict prevention the task force helps build the internal capacities of countries at risk to prevail against extremists exploiting instability.
