New York Army National Guard Maj. Gen. Patrick Murphy, the adjutant general of New York, conducts an oath reaffirmation ceremony with five New York Army National Guard and five New York Air National Guard recruits during a 378th National Guard birthday celebration held Monday, Dec. 15 at New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs headquarters in Latham, N.Y. The 10 new members have not yet attended their initial training school and cannot yet wear the uniform. The oath reaffirmation ceremony was coupled with a traditional cake-cutting event.
