Soldiers with 412th Aviation Support Battalion, 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, negotiate obstacles while transporting simulated casualties Dec. 10, 2014, at the Oberdachstetten Local Training Area (LTA). This grueling and realistic training was intended to better prepare these Soldiers for their upcoming Expert Field Medical Badge (EFMB) competition. During EFMB testing, hosted throughout the year by units across the globe, candidates are required to exhibit superior physical fitness and mental clarity when faced with life-or-death situations. They must rise above the rest in their abilities to perform medical, evacuation, communication and warrior skills. The Oberdachstetten LTA is just one of the many LTAs operated by the Training Support Activity Europe to provide both U.S. Army Europe and partner-nation troops with the ability to perform rigorous, realistic and relevant home-station training that enhances their combat readiness.
