Michigan National Guard Army Maj. Gen. Gregory Vadnais displays the Order of Viesturs Second Class received from Latvian President Andris Bērziņš at a ceremony in Riga, Latvia, Nov. 18, 2014. Standing with Vadnais is Latvian Chief of Defense Lt. Gen. Raimonds Graube and Army Maj. Gen. Mark McQueen, deputy chief of staff, mobilization and reserve affairs, United States Army Europe and 7th Army. Vadnais received the award for his leadership in bilateral military cooperation between the United States and Latvia and Michigan’s support in strengthening Latvian Defense Force capabilities.
