Sgt. Don Carlson, truck commander, Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 2nd Battalion, 146th Field Artillery, and Raymond, Wash., native, hands his guitar to Charlie Daniels for an autograph after a performance at the Morale, Welfare and Recreation base complex at Contingency Operating Base Q-West, Iraq, April 18. The Charlie Daniels band performed a two-hour show for more than 600 Soldiers, Airmen and civilians at Q-West. Soldiers rock-a-billied to classics like "The Devil went down to Georgia," and even a cover of Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues." Daniels then stunned the room with his version of the Star Spangled Banner, something he hadn't played at any of the other stops in Iraq. The rendition garnered Daniels a standing ovation from the packed room.
