U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Kellyann Stietzel (left) and her partner "Don" assigned to the Military Working Dog Unit at Camp Lemonier, jump from one tug boat to another during a sweep of the tugboats, April 20, at the Port of Djibouti. Stietzel and Don are one of the MWD teams assigned to Camp Lemonier, which stand duty at the Port of Djibouti inspecting ships, tugboats and piers for possible explosives and narcotics as well as routine security patrols. The service members of CJTF-HOA, headquartered in Djibouti, employ an indirect approach to counter violent extremism. Through a strategy of cooperative conflict prevention the task force helps build the internal capacities of countries at risk to prevail against extremists exploiting instability.
