A crowd looks on as Latvian soldiers parade past during the Latvia Day festivities in Riga, Latvia, Nov. 18, 2014, to mark the 96th year of the nation's independence. Spectators were treated to a speech by Latvian President Andris Bērziņš, a pass-in-review of Latvian and NATO allied partner soldiers and vehicles and a parade through the streets of old Riga. Soldiers from Company A, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division marched in the parade honoring the country's 96th year of independence as part of the U.S. Army Europe-led Operation Atlantic Resolve land force assurance training exercise taking place across Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to enhance multinational interoperability, strengthen relationships among allied militaries, contribute to regional stability and demonstrate U.S. commitment to NATO.
