Soldiers from Company A, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division march past the Freedom Monument in Riga, Latvia November 18, 2014 during a parade to mark the country's 96th year of independence. The Latvian national holiday treated spectators to Latvian, U.S. and other NATO allied soldiers performing a pass-in-review for the Latvian president, Andris Bērziņš, and a march to the Freedom Monument in Riga. The U.S. soldiers participated in the event as part of the U.S. Army Europe-led Operation Atlantic Resolve land force assurance training exercise taking place across Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to enhance multinational interoperability, strengthen relationships among allied militaries, contribute to regional stability and demonstrate U.S. commitment to NATO.
